Welcome to the USS Pandora!

Welcome to the USS Pandora!

Trek Into the Wild

The USS Pandora is a Play By Nova Star Trek Simulation game, where players are thrust into an exciting adventure to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before.

We are a recently refurbished Luna Class Federation Starship travelling the dangerous and unknown territories of the Inconnu Expanse, as part of Bravo Fleet's 72nd Task Force, in the year 2389. We are a vessel designed for long-term, multipurpose missions into unchartered territory. On our journeys we will contact new species, establish a Federation presence in a hostile region, come into conflict with the known and unknown, investigate and discover spacial anomalies, while unravelling the secrets of the treacherous Inconnu region. As a member of this crew, you are the audience, the writers, and the history-makers of the USS Pandora. Every Player onboard this ship can contribute to our missions, plot discussions, personal stories, and the legacy of this fine vessel.

Sometimes we may know our destination, sometimes just an inkling of the way ahead. It is up to us as a crew to make this journey together.

Are You Brave Enough To Join Us?

Several positions are now open but don’t wait too long to come onboard. We require:

- Chief Operations Officer
- Chief Medical Officer
- Marine Commanding Officer
- Chief Morale Officer

We also have many Assistant Chief and Departmental positions open. We especially are looking for:

- Scientists
- Operations
- Medical
- Diplomats
- Security
- Marines

"We are seeking bold explorers, curious scientists, brave warriors, and dependable officers for a brand new deep-space mission into unchartered and dangerous territory. The Pandora welcomes all willing and passionate writers to join our growing community and contribute to our unique stories."

- Captain Temple, Commanding Officer

» A Belated Happy Birthday

Posted on Sun Dec 23rd, 2018 @ 1:17pm by Captain Nycolas Temple in General News

At the start of December, the USS Pandora celebrated her 2nd Birthday! I'm sorry that real life has prevented me from making an announcement and celebrating this milestone until now, but as they say - better late than never.

It has been an honour and a privilege to serve as your Captain these past two years. I never imagined when I first decided to relaunch the Pandora that we would still be going two years later, with a full and creative crew, and writing such wonderful posts. We've had many laughs over the years and I want to thank each and every one of you for joining the sim, sticking around, and making it your own. The Pandora would be nothing without all of you fabulous writers coming here to share your adventures and I'm so grateful for your presence.

As we embark on another year of simming, with a new mission underway, let us continue to do what has made the Pandora such a successful and highly awarded, simulation for Bravo Fleet. That means YOU the players, will continue to be the directors, the actors, and the audience of our missions. You will continue to be encouraged to write as much as you want, as often as you'd like. You will continue to be encouraged to explore your characters, dig deep into your well of ideas, and never hold back from telling the kind of stories that YOU want to write and read.

This sim has always belonged to you and the best way that we can celebrate our two years (and counting) of existence is to just keep having fun and keep making posts.

However... it is with not as much pride that I present to you, the Pandora's Second Birthday video. I had an idea of what I wanted to do, but it turned out to be kind of terrible. So then I decided to fully embrace the terrible and make it as awful as I could. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Please do not watch it with your volume turned up, or in public.

Happy Birthday :D

» Pandora Wins TF72's Sim of the Month

Posted on Sun Nov 25th, 2018 @ 7:21am by Captain Nycolas Temple in General News

Congratulations everyone, the Bravo Fleet Admiralty has once again seen fit to recognise the USS Pandora with the Sim of the Month Award for October 2018. This comes after what was undoubtedly our most ambitious mission idea so far and a period of incredible writing from everyone onboard. This award is a recognition of everyone's wonderful contributions and our work as a team to produce high quality simming.

To quote the BFA:
"One of 72’s oldest sims has set an incredible standard for the Task Force. Its players are all excellent writers, and it matters not if you’re a veteran or a new player to the sim. Each person contributes and has a chance to participate in epic stories."

You Can Read the Announcement Here

Once again I thank you all for choosing to sim on the Pandora and for bringing this eclectic bunch of characters to life. Thank you for indulging my sometimes odd ideas and for getting involved with the mission concepts, while also exploring your individual journeys as complex, interesting, and compelling Starfleet officers. This sim would be nothing without your hard work and consistent participation. I am so proud that we have remained one of the top sims in the Task Force, and indeed Bravo Fleet, and I couldn't ask for a better crew.

Let's keep up the great work as we move into "Death in Paradise" and get back to doing what we do best.

» Player Awards

Posted on Mon Oct 8th, 2018 @ 12:50pm by Captain Nycolas Temple in Sim Announcement

Hello folks! I'm very delighted to deliver the results of the Player's survey and the Mission Awards for "Divided We Fall". Thank you to everyone who participated in the survey and, more importantly, everyone who contributed to the mission. In my personal opinion, I feel the mission was the most strikingly different and creatively outgoing story I've ever done - while at the same time the Real Universe group absolutely delivered that authentic "Star Trek" feel you want to read. I have conveyed this to my bosses in BF, too.

Don't just take my word for it, here's an example of what you guys said about it:

"I really enjoyed this mission. It challenged me as a player and also to find ways to interact with other players to get them involved. With the crew split, this was great fun."

"The overall mission was excellent, allowing us all to explore a very unique kind of story. It was hilarious and heartbreaking at various intervals, with our characters pushed to their limits and beyond."

"While it was frustrating to be seperated from such a large number of the crew the mission was also awesome and allowed the writers to really stretch their wings."

Now... On to the awards!

The Funniest Post Award

"Music Lessons" by Tisar Zemel & Ashshy Retol Ayan & Aoife Brennan

The Most "Star Trek" Post Award

"The Impossible Choice"

The Most Dramatic Post Award

"How It All Ends" by Vecon Fick

Overall Best Post of the Mission:

"Madeline" by Lieutenant Kalin 'Shae' Brennan-Griffin PhD & Lieutenant Cailus Griffin

Player of the Mission Award:

"CAILUS GRIFFIN", as played by Suliac.

From the players:
"I've picked Cailus because I thought the posts he was publishing were very powerful and descriptive bringing the reader into the same situation of the character and left wondering what next?"

"Cailus was/is always so stoic. It's good solid writing that even this AU couldn't shake him. He never seemed to lose hope."

"Suliac is a fantastic writer, he'll be my favorite always because he compliments my own writing style quite well."

Congratulations Suliac!

Onwards to our next adventure.

» Pandora wins the Task Force Participation Medal

Posted on Wed Aug 1st, 2018 @ 5:58am by Captain Nycolas Temple in Sim Announcement

Hello fellow Pandorans!

I know it's been a while since I've made an announcement, but we've been very involved in this difficult mission of ours and we're seeing some extraordinary posts as a result. Let's keep up the fantastic efforts and see this mission completed by the end of August.

In further news, our froggy overlord, aka Admiral O'Connell, aka Task Force 72's Commanding Officer, aka Greenfelt, has awarded the USS Pandora with....

The Task Force Participation Medal

"The Task Force Participation Medal is awarded by the Hall of Honor on behalf of a sim’s respective Task Force Commanding or Executive Officer. Sims who receive this ribbon have either completed a mission within the scope of its Task Force’s canon, made contributions to the overall canon of that Task Force, or have otherwise conducted themselves worthy of honor and recognition of the Task Force."

When the Pandora was relaunched back in December 2016, we were the only active ship flying into the Inconnu Expanse. Since that time, we have come to define the region with a deeper insight into the various dangers (dark matter storms and the combusting Indigo Sky), bold and aggressive enemies (Tzenkethi and Ravagers), and new possibilities (like the Mendazians of Salvaxe). Now there are several ships flying into this region and the new Task Force canon of the Alrakis Pact being signed will deliver an exciting future for TF72.

We're receiving this award, I believe, for being pioneers of the Inconnu story and leading the way forward in new ideas and bold direction for Trek writing. It is an incredibly well-deserved award for all the crew of this fabulous ship and I congratulate everyone for receiving it.

But the best news is... We're STILL just getting started.

There's a clear plan for the next few missions and an interesting new storyline that will weave it's way across everything we do. The Pandora promised to trek into the wild and that's exactly what we're going to do.

Congrats everyone, let's keep it up!

» Shae Brennan - TF72's Player of the Month

Posted on Mon Feb 19th, 2018 @ 3:11am by Captain Nycolas Temple in General News

It gives me great joy to announce that our amazing Chief Science Officer, Lt. Shae Brennan, aka Monoui, has been awarded Task Force 72's Player of the Month for January 2018.

Monoui has been a veritable writing force of nature for the Pandora; her posts are always realistic, entertaining, and even moving. Her presence on the sim, as a co-writer, a generous player, and (especially for me) a mountain of experienced advice, has been immeasurable - and I feel inadequate in trying to put her contributions to the Pandora into enough words. Shae's personal storylines, with Suliac/Griffin, in particular have been fearless and heart warming. As a previous CO of this very sim, her shoes have been enormous ones to fill, and I want to thank her for not just coming onboard but for making this her home again.

Thank you for everything you have done for the Pandora, for myself, and everyone else on the sim. Thank you being such an integral part of the crew. This award has been a long time coming and I am so grateful to have been able to nominate you and to have this opportunity to show how much I appreciate your presence on the Pandora.

Please, everyone, join me in congratulating Monoui on her well-deserved award.

Also, you can read the announcement here.
