Welcome to the USS Pandora!

Welcome to the USS Pandora!

Trek Into the Wild

The USS Pandora is a Play By Nova Star Trek Simulation game, where players are thrust into an exciting adventure to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before.

We are a recently refurbished Luna Class Federation Starship travelling the dangerous and unknown territories of the Inconnu Expanse, as part of Bravo Fleet's 72nd Task Force, in the year 2389. We are a vessel designed for long-term, multipurpose missions into unchartered territory. On our journeys we will contact new species, establish a Federation presence in a hostile region, come into conflict with the known and unknown, investigate and discover spacial anomalies, while unravelling the secrets of the treacherous Inconnu region. As a member of this crew, you are the audience, the writers, and the history-makers of the USS Pandora. Every Player onboard this ship can contribute to our missions, plot discussions, personal stories, and the legacy of this fine vessel.

Sometimes we may know our destination, sometimes just an inkling of the way ahead. It is up to us as a crew to make this journey together.

Are You Brave Enough To Join Us?

» Lt Griffin - Task Force 72’s Player of the Month

Posted on Mon Jul 22nd, 2019 @ 4:16am by Captain Nycolas Temple in General News

Congratulations Griffin!

The monthly Task Force Awards have been announced and it should come as no surprise that our Lieutenant Griffin has once again received recognition as Task Force 72’s Player of the Month.

I wrote the following in his nomination and I think it sums up why he absolutely deserves this award again. He was previously recognised as Player of the Month and Bravo Fleet’s Player of the Quarter in 2017.

Lieutenant Griffin had a mammoth task during this mission – both IC and OOC – to piece together the random, untrustworthy clues left by the players and myself. He had to deal with intentional red-herrings, people lying and keeping secrets, and this elusive, unknown Murderer running rampant around Paradise and Pandora. And despite the challenge set, he has risen above and beyond the call of his position and a normal RP writer; he has always done so with grace and the spirit of fun that the mission required.

To say that he performed his duties would be an understatement; he has helped to carry this mission successfully through to its narrative conclusion and I hold him in the highest regard for his diligence, patience, and skill. It is easy to be impressed by Griffin for the kind of high-calibre writer that he already is – our previous mission in an alternate universe is testament enough to his talents and carefully crafted sense of character – but as a player, he has outdone himself in the past few months and deserves the highest recognition for his achievement.

Congratulations Griffin!

» The Pandora Receives High Recognition

Posted on Sat Apr 6th, 2019 @ 5:37pm by Captain Nycolas Temple in General News

Greetings everyone!

I come today with two bits of very exciting news.

The first, which isn't quite new news to be honest but still wonderful nonetheless. Our gracious Task Force Commanding Officer has awarded the Pandora with the Task Force Participation Medal, due to our contributions to the Inconnu Expanse theatre of operations, and our long-running exploration of the region. This is our second Medal of this title, after previously being awarded in August 2018.

To quote Admiral O'Connell:

"The USS Pandora, one of 72’s longest-standing sims, is our trailblazer in the Inconnu Expanse. Though many ships have entered, none have explored as much as this Luna-class vessel, from settling a border dispute between the Talarians and Tzenkethi, introducing the Ravagers, and now exploring the alien Paradise Outpost."

I am so proud of this sim for the creative energy and strong storytelling that we produce week after week, and you are all so deserving of this recognition from our Task Force leaders. This mission idea that we're running right now, I know, is very different and unique in online RPGs so I am especially grateful that you're all contributing and following this wild ride. I couldn't be prouder to be your CO and all I can say is just keep doing the amazing work that you folks do.

Congratulations!

SECOND news is also super amazing. The Pandora has been selected to join the ranks of Bravo Fleet's Notable Sims status. Essentially, this recognition is for long-running sims who have made significant contributions to Bravo Fleet or their Task Force canon. Of the thousands of sims that have ever started in Bravo Fleet's history, only 75 of them have ever achieved this status. It means we belong to an elite group of simulations who are etched in the history books of this Fleet for the remainder of time, and that our work has been recognised with the highest honour.

The USS Pandora is now immortalised in Bravo Fleet canon. You can view our Notable Sims page here for a history of our missions, background of the ship, previously received awards, and a section listing our long-serving crew members too. The page is still a slight work in progress, as there's a bit more updating to do.

Once again, my deepest congratulations and thanks to you all. It is the players who make this sim what it is, it is the players who keep it going and invest their time and energy into making it work, it is the players who deserve the recognition. Pat yourselves on the back for helping to elevate the Pandora to this status and let's look forward to our continuing journey. We may be a Notable Sim already, but we've got so many more stories to tell.

CONGRATULATIONS PANDORA

» Mindo - TF72's Player of the Month!

Posted on Wed Mar 20th, 2019 @ 4:22am by Captain Nycolas Temple in General News

Greetings all!

This has been a long time coming and I'm so thrilled our Mindo has finally received the recognition he deserves. CF brought Lieutenant Mindo over from another sim almost 2 years ago and has since been a major part of the Pandora family. As a player he is a joy to write with; you can tell how much he cares about his characters and about producing works that are detailed, realistic, and made of genuine story content. Mindo himself is a totally different person to anyone I've written with before and that's saying something in a RPG community of this size and calibre.

I always look forward to reading the next adventures of Mindo, and even still with the sense that there's more to learn and love about this person. CF is careful, thoughtful, and passionate about his posts and his contributions to the sim have ranged from beautifully nuanced to outright hilarious at times. I couldn't imagine the Pandora without Mindo and this sim without CF, and I'm so grateful he's part of our team.

Every one please join me in congratulating CF and his Lieutenant Mindo in receiving Task Force 72's Player of the Month Award!

» A Belated Happy Birthday

Posted on Sun Dec 23rd, 2018 @ 1:17pm by Captain Nycolas Temple in General News

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PANDORA!

At the start of December, the USS Pandora celebrated her 2nd Birthday! I'm sorry that real life has prevented me from making an announcement and celebrating this milestone until now, but as they say - better late than never.

It has been an honour and a privilege to serve as your Captain these past two years. I never imagined when I first decided to relaunch the Pandora that we would still be going two years later, with a full and creative crew, and writing such wonderful posts. We've had many laughs over the years and I want to thank each and every one of you for joining the sim, sticking around, and making it your own. The Pandora would be nothing without all of you fabulous writers coming here to share your adventures and I'm so grateful for your presence.

As we embark on another year of simming, with a new mission underway, let us continue to do what has made the Pandora such a successful and highly awarded, simulation for Bravo Fleet. That means YOU the players, will continue to be the directors, the actors, and the audience of our missions. You will continue to be encouraged to write as much as you want, as often as you'd like. You will continue to be encouraged to explore your characters, dig deep into your well of ideas, and never hold back from telling the kind of stories that YOU want to write and read.

This sim has always belonged to you and the best way that we can celebrate our two years (and counting) of existence is to just keep having fun and keep making posts.

However... it is with not as much pride that I present to you, the Pandora's Second Birthday video. I had an idea of what I wanted to do, but it turned out to be kind of terrible. So then I decided to fully embrace the terrible and make it as awful as I could. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Please do not watch it with your volume turned up, or in public.

Happy Birthday :D

» Pandora Wins TF72's Sim of the Month

Posted on Sun Nov 25th, 2018 @ 7:21am by Captain Nycolas Temple in General News

Congratulations everyone, the Bravo Fleet Admiralty has once again seen fit to recognise the USS Pandora with the Sim of the Month Award for October 2018. This comes after what was undoubtedly our most ambitious mission idea so far and a period of incredible writing from everyone onboard. This award is a recognition of everyone's wonderful contributions and our work as a team to produce high quality simming.

To quote the BFA:
"One of 72’s oldest sims has set an incredible standard for the Task Force. Its players are all excellent writers, and it matters not if you’re a veteran or a new player to the sim. Each person contributes and has a chance to participate in epic stories."

You Can Read the Announcement Here

Once again I thank you all for choosing to sim on the Pandora and for bringing this eclectic bunch of characters to life. Thank you for indulging my sometimes odd ideas and for getting involved with the mission concepts, while also exploring your individual journeys as complex, interesting, and compelling Starfleet officers. This sim would be nothing without your hard work and consistent participation. I am so proud that we have remained one of the top sims in the Task Force, and indeed Bravo Fleet, and I couldn't ask for a better crew.

Let's keep up the great work as we move into "Death in Paradise" and get back to doing what we do best.
